Dutch musician and film composer Junkie XL (Antonius Tom Holkenborg) has confirmed that he’ll be scoring the upcoming reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise. Originally beginning as a multi-instrumentalist, Junkie XL transitioned into film scores in the mid-2000’s by contributing additional music to Hans Zimmer’s scores, which included the likes of Inception and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Tom Holkenborg also began to score his own soundtracks, which included Deadpool and fan-favorite Mad Max: Fury Road. After Hans Zimmer’s retirement from superhero soundtracks, Holkenborg was announced as the composer for the DC superhero team-up movie Justice League. However, things didn’t pan out, and Holkenborg left the project during post-production, with Danny Elfman coming in to contribute new music.
Despite his falling out from Justice League, Junkie XL has confirmed on Instagram that he’ll be scoring the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot. You can check out the Instagram post below.
The Tomb Raider reboot is set to star Alicia Vikander as the titular character along with Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu, Dominic West, Hannah John-Kamen, and Antonio Akeel.
Directed by Norwegian director Roar Uthaug, Tomb Raider is set to hit cinemas on March 16, 2018.
