The cast for the upcoming Jurassic World 2 continues to grow. The film, which will be directed by J.A. Bayona (The Impossible and A Monster Calls) added Justice Smith (The Get Down), Rafe Spall and Toby Jones to the cast, with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard reprising their roles as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing respectively.
Now, Variety is reporting that actress Daniella Pineda will be joining this series’ fifth chapter, reportedly playing a “key role” in the sequel. Pineda currently stars in the TBS comedy, The Detour as Vanessa. Her other credits include guest roles on Homeland and The Vampire Diaries.
Jurassic World 2 would be the first major studio production for Pineda. Seeing her join the cast along with fellow up-and-coming performer Justice Smith is exciting, and will surely give a great platform for these two performers to introduce themselves to broader audiences.
Jurassic World was a box office juggernaut for Universal Pictures. The fourth entry in the franchise which began with Steven Spielberg’s 1993 classic Jurassic Park broke numerous financial records, and remained 2015’s highest grossing film until LucasFilm’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens opened in theaters. Here is the synopsis to Jurassic World:
Located off the coast of Costa Rica, the Jurassic World luxury resort provides a habitat for an array of genetically engineered dinosaurs, including the vicious and intelligent Indominus rex. When the massive creature escapes, it sets off a chain reaction that causes the other dinos to run amok. Now, it’s up to a former military man and animal expert (Chris Pratt) to use his special skills to save two young brothers and the rest of the tourists from an all-out, prehistoric assault.
