‘Justice League’: Green Lantern Corps Confirmed To Appear

We may not have confirmation of Green Lantern, the missing seventh member of next year’s Justice League, but, if not the Earth space cop himself, then a fellow member of the Green Lantern Corps will have to do.

Heroic Hollywood founder & The Wrap reporter Umberto Gonzalez dropped the tidbit in his news breakdown of next year’s highly-anticipated superhero team-up, adding that said anonymous Green Lantern will pop up “in a key sequence.”

When director Zack Snyder initially teased Justice League, it was with the tagline “Unite the Seven.” However, as evidenced by the team shot above, only six members are accounted for. It was announced years ago a reboot titled Green Lantern Corps was planned for summer 2020, but that was just a release date, with only rumors filling the void of where the character could go prior.

Given the Corps is filled with aliens, it’s possible the character is a CGI creation, as no performer has been connected yet. Another, unlikelier possibility is they have already sneak-cast the Green Lantern superhero (either Hal Jordan or John Stewart . . . or both!) and are hiding him until the film’s release a year from now (although we saw how well that worked out with Johnny Depp in this weekend’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them).

As for what role the character and the Corps will play, it’s possibly they’re involved in the prologue explaining Darkseid, the Mother Boxes, and the ancient alliance of humans, Atlanteans and Amazonians. There was also a rumor way, way back that the film would end with Green Lantern showing up to tee up the 2019 sequel vs. Darkseid.

What do you think? Excited to be seeing the Green Lanterns making a comeback sooner than expected? Where do you expect them to pop up in the film? Let us know in the comments!

Justice League hits theaters November 17, 2017 and its sequel for June 14, 2019. Green Lantern Corps is scheduled for July 24, 2020.

…and somewhere Sammy-rai just inadvertently separated his shoulder while jerkin’ furiously (yet inappropriately) to this morsel of news with unbridled glee!

You do realize that for each yin, there is a yang. You are the flip side of Sammy-rai’s coin. As ridiculous as many find his comments, just as many find yours that ridiculous.

I beg to differ. I don’t criticize dceu fangurls for (foolishly) disliking MARVEL, just as long as it’s legitimate…and if not, that’s when I feel compelled to clown them in a playful (yet harmless) way…Sides’, have you ever witnessed me threatening and/or blocking folks comments like a petulant butt-hurt child like lil’ sammy-rai?

Sammy, Napi or someone on here made an impersonator of you named Marquis DC Sade. You should report him for it.

Uhmmm, what? All members of the GLC are called “Green Lantern”. Are you referring to Hal Jordan?

    • I’m wondering if we’ll see a fun CGI alien Lantern… versus, say, Hal Jordan or John Stewart. Just as kind of a foreshadowing that the Corps exists out there.

      • SAMURAI36

I can see that, but not as a leading character. I’m sure we’ll see dozens of alien GL’s in the film(s) though, just like we did in the previous GL movie.

        • Chris Schroeder

Personally I’d love to see Sinestro as a GL help them fight. Or even Abin Sur and have him die during the final fight, leading up to Hal taking over

Is this news actually confirmed? Also, I’ve seen this same rumor pop up on Reddit and 4Chan in recent weeks.

It will be….. Abin Sur… He will Fall in the batitle with Steppenwolf sending his Ring Searching for a certain test pilot. Wouldn’t it be crazy if that pilot turned out to be… Dan Amboyer after all. Lol!!

[email protected] theory. Although I think Hal is probably a seasoned GL vet in his 40s in the DCEU.

  • Darthmanwe

A lot of us already speculated and guessed that GL corps would show up in one form or the other at the end of JL.

These seems like a bad idea for 2 reasons. The 1st is that they are giving yet another character to Zack Snyder. The 2nd is that they have too many characters to establish in this film. It could be done but I don’t trust them considering their history.

I don’t mean to be annoying, but Green Lantern Corps was announced as a 2020 release at Comic-con 2015. Its 2016 and I don’t think that can really be considered as “years ago”. There has been speculation of a Green Lantern reboot for years, but the official announcement wasn’t even a year and a half ago.
