‘Justice League’ Star Jesse Eisenberg Would Love To Play Lex Luthor ‘Forever’

Justice League star Jesse Eisenberg expressed his willingness to reprise his role as Lex Luthor.

Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice introduced audiences to Jesse Eisenberg’s incarnation of Lex Luthor, the wealthy genius who orchestrated a series of events designed to pit the Man of Steel and Caped Crusader against each other. However, both heroes eventually learned the truth behind Luthor’s machinations and joined forces to eventually incarcerate the diabolical businessman.

Nonetheless, Jessie Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor returned for a brief appearance in the post-credits scene of Justice League, in which he escaped from prison and proposed forming a team of villains to the assassin known as Deathstroke. However, the underwhelming performance of Justice League prompted Warner Bros. to reconsider their plans for the future and it currently unclear if Jesse Eisenberg will be asked to reprise his as Lex Luthor. During an interview with The National, Jesse Eisenberg revealed that he is still unaware of what the studio has planned for Lex Luthor, but noted that he would love to play the villain forever:

“Oh yeah, are you kidding? I would love it. That’s the coolest role to play. I don’t even know if they know what they’re doing with the movies, but for me it was exhilarating. I would love to play that role forever. I have no knowledge about what they’re doing with it. […] You can do anything [with the character] and it’s right. You can be as funny, as dramatic, as crazed, as sensitive [as you want]. The character is open to any interpretation. It’s not a prescribed, acceptable role that the audience feels they have to like or see themselves in, so that’s the kind of freeing role that actors like. Will they let me do it again? I have no idea. But that’s the kind of thing I love.”
