Jesse Eisenberg has stated that he would love to return to playing Lex Luthor after his role in Justice League.
One of the most contentious performances in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice came from Jesse Eisenberg, who played Lex Luthor. Jesse Eisenberg certainly brought his own unique take on Lex Luthor by making him echo the neuroticism and ego-heavy mannerisms of modern day tech billionaires. His future in the DC Extended Universe is uncertain at the moment as the film franchise has been reshuffling its slate and focusing more on individual stories.
Jesse Eisenberg was last seen as Lex Luthor in Justice League’s post-credits scene, where his now bald villain teased the commencement of the Legion of Doom. And since then… we’ve heard absolutely nothing regarding his future, as well as the Legion of Doom’s.
In a recent interview with INTHEPANDA, Jesse Eisenberg was asked what’s next for Lex Luthor post-Justice League. While the actor didn’t confirm any future appearances in the DCEU, he did discuss how he’d love to play the character again after his brief role in Justice League.
“Oh yeah, I would very much like to because it’s such a cool character. Playing a villain in a superhero movie is the fun part. The good guys are fine, but the villains are the fun part because they get to be a little bit more flamboyant. Of course, the hero gets to, you know, survive. But, the villain has all the funny lines. I don’t know about the first part, but the second part is something that I could definitely be involved in, sure.”
It would certainly be exciting to see Jesse Eisenberg return to the role of Lex Luthor, especially after his brief appearance in Justice League as fans finally got to see him play the character bald. We’re not exactly sure where Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor could fit in the DCEU in a post-Justice League world as even the Batman from that film has been rebooted. However, it would be awesome to see Lex Luthor make further appearances in villain-centric films like The Suicide Squad.
