‘Justice League’: New Behind-The-Scenes Image Of Superman Surfaces

A new image of Superman from Justice League has surfaced, hinting at a little more build-up to his return than what we got in theaters.

Zack Snyder Justice League

Justice League revealed Superman’s return from the dead and his transformation from a noble if self-doubting hero to the ideal Jor-El believed he could be. A new behind-the-scenes image of Superman reveals a scene that Zack Snyder filmed that was seemingly cut for time.

The image itself, which recently surfaced in the DC fan community can be seen below:

Judging by the lack of the mustache that Cavill was mandated to keep by Paramount for filming of Mission: Impossible 6, it can be presumed that this scene was a part of director Zack Snyder’s original cut of Justice League before he and Joss Whedon overhauled the film in post-production. Or it may just be that this was a scene that was meant to be shown in the theatrical cut, but was removed to fit the movie under two hours — which seems more likely. If we had to guess, this scene likely would have come into play just before the final battle, with Superman donning his suit once again before taking flight to stop Steppenwolf with the rest of the team (which, incidentally, featured an Easter Egg alluding to the black costume Superman originally wore following his resurrection in the comics).

Justice League is still playing in theaters. The film is made up of an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne (Batman), Henry Cavill as Kal-El/Clark Kent (Superman), Gal Gadot as Diana Prince (Wonder Woman), Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry (Aquaman), Ezra Miller as Barry Allen (The Flash), Ray Fisher as Victor Stone (Cyborg), Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, J. K. Simmons as Commissioner James ‘Jim’ Gordon, Joe Morton as Dr. Silas Stone, Amber Heard as Mera, and Billy Crudup as Dr. Henry Allen.
