Henry Cavill’s Superman is ready to battle Darkseid in this new image that features the two as they face off for what could easily have been seen in the Justice League film.
The image below shows Darkseid face to face with Henry Cavill’s Superman. Darkseid was originally set to be featured in 2017’s Justice League film. Zack Snyder may have even revealed himself that he had cast actor Ray Porter in the role before behind the scenes changes left Darkseid on the cutting room floor. Zack Snyder’s original vision for the DC extended universe saw Darkseid taking over Earth in a distant future as was glimpsed in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. But unfortunately for Zack Snyder and his fans, the director’s vision will most likely never come to fruition on the silver screen, leaving fan artists to imagine what could have been.

Henry Cavill exited negotiations to reprise his role last year after the studio was not able to reach an agreement that would have seen the Superman actor return for a cameo in Shazam!. Instead, the film managed to still include the cameo with Henry Cavill’s Superman by keeping Superman’s head out of the shots he was in. Henry Cavill can be seen as Superman in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League. Henry Cavill will next appear in The Witcher series on Netflix.
Here is a plot synopsis for the film:
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
Justice League is now available on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD.
