Justice League cinematographer Fabian Wagner shared new details on Darkseid and the Zack Snyder cut during an interview with Comic Book Debate.
Since Justice League debuted in theaters to mixed reviews and underperformed at the box office, some fans have been clamoring to see the Zack Snyder Cut of the film and continue to seek information on the filmmakers’ original vision for the project. Over the past 21 months, fans have learned that Darkseid was originally going to play a role in the Zack Snyder Cut of Justice League before the character was completely excised from the theatrical release.
Now, Justice League cinematographer photography Fabian Wagner has revealed that Zack Snyder shot footage for Darkseid in Los Angeles. While Zack Snyder selected Ray Porter to portray Darkseid before exited the project, the actor was not the physical performer for the villain in the aforementioned scenes.
Wagner also revealed that the visual effects were missing in a lot of scenes from the Zack Snyder Cut that and were not completed by the time the filmmaker left. Additional information revealed by Fabian Wagner includes the fact that Zack Snyder cut the first three trailers for Justice League and that they started the project with the now-canceled sequel, which would have seen Darkseid return, already in mind.
A few things we learned about JL:
1) Zack cut the first 3 trailers
2) VFX were missing in a lot of areas when Zack left
3) Darkseid was shot in LA but the physical actor wasn’t Porter
4) They started JL thinking of JL2 😳
