Karen Gillan believes that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has the best script in the entire trilogy.
While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in an interview promoting Jumanji: The Next Level, Karen Gillan explained that she’s incredibly confident in the direction that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to go in. She’s raring to work with director James Gunn again after a period of uncertainty that led to the project’s delay.
Karen Gillan explained that why she didn’t know when the movie will start filming now, she has made it clear that she’s thrilled to work on it. Check out what she had to say below:
“I don’t know exactly [when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 starts filming]. I think it’ll be in the next couple of years, but I’ve read [the script] and I think it’s the best of the trilogy. I know that we’re all really excited to have James Gunn back as our fearless leader. So we’re all just really looking forward to getting back together.”
It sounds like the third film in the series is also going to be the biggest one by far, based on what Karen Gillan is saying, so hopefully the movie ends things on a high note in its send-off to the MCU’s original space-faring team. The movie will lay the groundwork for future cosmic adventures, so one can only hope that the setting continues to expand as new characters enter the fray.
Production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was originally expected to begin this past January to prime the movie for a May 2020 release window. James Gunn was set to direct from a script he wrote, but the film was ultimately delayed when Disney removed James Gunn from the project last year, before reversing their decision and bringing him back in March. But to complicate matters even further, he signed on to both write and direct The Suicide Squad for DC Films, pushing back the start date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Sean Gunn. The cast of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies was most recently seen in Avengers: Endgame. It is unclear if Chris Hemsworth will appear as Thor in the film, since his final scene in Avengers: Endgame suggests a possible team-up. The film does not have a release date, but it is speculated to arrive in either 2022 or 2023.
