See Keanu Reeves As Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine Replacement For The MCU

From The Matrix to the MCU.

Keanu Reeves Wolverine Hugh Jackman MCU

A brand new concept design imagines what Keanu Reeves would look like as Hugh Jackman’s replacement as Wolverine for the MCU.

One of the biggest stars who hasn’t joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet is Keanu Reeves. Though he’s played DC hero Constantine before, Reeves has never graced the screen as a Marvel hero, despite pleas from fans over the years. Recently, The Matrix star said that it would be an “honor” for him to join the MCU, which has reignited fan speculation as to who he could play in the storied franchise.

The obvious answer has always been Wolverine, as both the character and Keanu Reeves are Canadian. Beyond that, Hugh Jackman has officially retired from the role, leaving it wide open for the star to take over. Now that Disney owns Fox, all X-Men characters have been reverted back to Marvel Studios. It’s clear that Kevin Feige and the brass at Marvel want to see Wolverine and the other X-Men in the MCU, it’s just unknown when they’ll make their debut.

With the multiverse becoming a pivotal device for the MCU, perhaps Keanu Reeves could be folded in as Hugh Jackman’s replacement as the X-Man? A concept design from artist Spdrmnkyxxiii expertly imagines Reeves as the MCU’s Wolverine replacement, claws and all.

Seeing Reeves is interested in joining the MCU, it isn’t out of the question to imagine him as Hugh Jackman’s replacement. However, he does have quite a bit on his plate at the moment with the John Wick and Matrix franchises, so it might be best that Reeves take on a smaller, more stand-alone role in the superhero series.

Here is the official synopsis for Keanu Reeves’ The Matrix Resurrections:

In a world of two realities—everyday life and what lies behind it—Thomas Anderson will have to choose to follow the white rabbit once more. Choice, while an illusion, is still the only way in or out of the Matrix, which is stronger, more secure and more dangerous than ever before.

Directed by Lana Wachowski from a script she co-wrote with Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchel, The Matrix Resurrections stars Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, Toby Onwumere, Eréndira Ibarra, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick, Priyanka Chopra, Andrew Caldwell, and Brian J. Smith.

The Matrix Resurrections is currently set to hit theaters and HBO Max on December 22, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming film and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
