Keanu Reeves’ upcoming film John Wick 4 will be shot back to back with the franchise’s newly announced fifth installment.

Keanu Reeves’ John Wick franchise has undergone quite the transformation. Originally it was a low budget action thriller that blew everyone away with how good it was. Both sequels kept upping the ante with its action, with Keanu Reeves’ character having to take on an ever-increasing number of antagonists. Now studio Lionsgate has revealed that a fifth film is in the works and will be shot right after the fourth film for a release the following year.

During an earnings call, Lionsgate CEO revealed the plans for the franchise, stating that they hope to shoot both films back to back when Keanu Reeves becomes available in early 2021:

“We’re also busy preparing scripts for the next two installments of our John Wick action franchise, with John Wick 4 slated to hit theatres Memorial Day weekend 2022. We hope to shoot both John Wick 4 & 5 back to back when Keanu becomes available early next year.”

Here is the official synopsis for the latest film in the franchise, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum:

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.

Directed by Chad Stahelski from a script written by Derek Kolstad, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum stars Keanu Reeves, Halle Berry, Ian McShane, Ruby Rose, Common, Lance Reddick, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Jason Mantzoukas, Anjelica Huston, and Boban Marjanovic.

The next film in the franchise, John Wick 4, is currently scheduled to be released on May 27, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the John Wick franchise and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more exclusive video content!
