Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd are being sued for their song Pray for Me which was featured in 2018’s hit film, Black Panther.

Earlier today a lawsuit was filed in federal court against Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd over copyright infringement. The lawsuit comes from a band known as Yeasayer which claims that Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd’s song took lyrics from the band’s 2007 song, Sunrise.  According to the lawsuit, Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd extracted and used the band’s vocal performances for Pray for Me.

Yeasayer claims that the song Pray for Me uses their lyrics of Sunrise eight times and that the modifications were used to conceal the usage. The band is seeking unspecific damages Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd for the Black Panther song. The band is also asking for an injunction to stop the sales of the song. Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd have yet to comment on the lawsuit.
