Kevin Feige Reveals Why Nick Fury Didn’t Page Captain Marvel Before ‘Avengers’

Kevin Feige revealed why Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) never paged Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) before the events of Avengers: Infinity War.

Before the Avengers assembled to save New York City, Sam Jackson’s Nick Fury met Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, in the 1990s. Now, thanks to Kevin Feige, fans now know why the one-eyed Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. never bothered contacting his long-lost super-friend prior to the post-credits stinger of Avengers: Infinity War.

Speaking with SlashFilm, President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige was asked why Nick Fury never contacted Captain Marvel during the traumatic alien invasion of New York City, which took place during the original Avengers film and well before Infinity War.

Kevin Feige responded with a two-part answer. The first of which is a reference to a specific line of dialogue spoken in the Captain Marvel movie:

“One, she does say it’s gotta be a real emergency, right? Yeah.”

Essentially, Kevin Feige is saying that it was not a real emergency when a hole tore open in the sky and a massive invading force of extraterrestrial warriors poured out onto the unsuspecting streets of the Big Apple. Maybe he is right because after all, Fury did have the Avengers on the job. One could argue that the invasion was not exactly akin to what Thanos did at the end of Avengers: Infinity War.

Kevin Feige truly shows why he is at the head of the table at Marvel with his second answer. Classic Kevin Feige submits:

“The other thing I’d say is how do you know he never hit it? How do we know he never pushed it before? We’ve never seen him push it before. That doesn’t mean he never did.”

Maybe Fury has tried to page Captain Marvel before the end of Avengers: Infinity War and maybe she was just too busy to respond or perhaps out of the range of the signal. Who knows? Hopefully, fans will get more answers in Avengers: Endgame.

What do you think of Kevin Feige’s answer? Do you find it acceptable? Or do you still believe that this whole thing is some sort of a plot hole? Sound off in the comments below and let us know!
