Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige recently called director Chloe Zhao’s Eternals pitch “the best he’d ever heard.”
Phase Four is full of intriguing projects, and one of the most interesting is Eternals for several reasons. Not only is Marvel Studios taking a chance on another property unknown to many fans, but the film will also be helmed by Chloe Zhao, who is getting a ton of Oscar buzz for Nomadland.
Rolling Stone recently did a feature on Chloe Zhao, and in it, Kevin Feige talked about working with the up-and-coming filmmaker. Feige called Zhao’s pitch for Eternals “the best he’d ever heard” and praised the director for how she was able to handle the ambitious Marvel project:
“Not only does Chloe make remarkable, small, personal movies in a remarkable, small, personal way, but she thinks in grand, cosmic, gigantic terms, which fit perfectly with what we wanted to do. Eternals is a very big, sweeping, multimillennial-spanning story. And she just got it.”
