Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has teased that ideas are in the works for characters who debuted in the mid-credits scene of Eternals.
While all eyes are currently on Spider-Man: No Way Home, many are still hung up on the ending of Eternals, as well as its mid-credits scene, which introduced an iconic star to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a shocking reveal, pop star and actor Harry Styles was revealed to be the MCU’s Eros, better known as Starfox. Joining Starfox was Patton Oswalt’s Pip the Troll, who also announced that Eros was Thanos’ brother.
Seeing as Eternals wasn’t widely praised like most MCU films, and with plans of a sequel up in the air, it’s uncertain how Eros will be involved in future projects. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige opened up about the future of the character and the Eternals, teasing that ideas are currently in the works.
“That was a fun one. That was a fun teaser tag at the end of the movie. We have a lot of fans, outside the studio of course, but within the studio, of Starfox; of that character Eros. So as the MCU has continued into the Cosmic arena, there are ideas.”
While Kevin Feige doesn’t give a definitive answer as to what fans can expect, it’s unlikely that they throw away such an iconic actor because Eternals wasn’t as well-received as expected. And if Styles is back as Eros, then it’s certain that Oswalt will return as the CGI troll.
Here is the synopsis for the MCU film:
The story takes place across two time periods. One storyline is set in the past when they operated as a formidable team and a close family unit. The second storyline is in the present, when the group has fractured and split apart, content to live among humans, hiding in plain sight. The prevailing threat of the Deviants, which once again threatens the existence of mankind, means the Eternals need to put their differences aside and regroup.
Chloe Zhao directed Eternals from a script she co-wrote with Patrick Burleigh, Kaz Firpo, and Ryan Firpo. The cast of the Marvel Studios project includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Salma Hayek as Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as Thena.
