Just in case anyone is wondering what Marvel has planned after the untitled Avengers 4, turns out the answer is a lot. Twenty to be exact. According to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, in talking with Vanity Fair, the MCU will have a lot on its plate even after the fourth Avengers film hits the big screen.
What’s more is that these planned films could provide some new life to the already successful Marvel slate. Here’s what Feige had to say:
“22 movies in, and we’ve got another 20 movies on the docket that are completely different from anything that’s come before — intentionally.”
Many Marvel critics seem to share a similar feeling in that the MCU films are formulaic. Though others may respond with the “if it aint broke” mentality, that last bit of Feige’s statement should make fans and critics excited, or at least intrigued, for what’s to come. There’s no telling if Feige was responding to those criticisms specifically, but the word “fatigue” gets tossed around a lot these days. Switching things up only prolongs the interest people will have in these films.
Though anything beyond Avengers 4 is all speculation at this point, Feige also revealed something pretty telling about the fourth installation in that it will “bring things you’ve never seen in superhero films: a finale.”
The thought of following what is said to be a “finale” with 20 more films is perplexing. Two major films in charge of setting a new tone will be a third Guardians of the Galaxy as well as the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, said to usher fans into to Phase 4 of the MCU. Cryptic quotes or not, 20 more Marvel movies and a big finale in Avengers 4 is about as much as any fan could ask for.
What do you make of these of quotes from the Marvel Studios guru himself? Among those 20 films planned, which movie do you want to see happen? Let us know in the comments!
