Kevin Feige Named Among Hollywood’s Most Powerful

Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, was named the 6th most powerful person in Hollywood according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Before Thanos collected The Infinity stones before Spider-Man was recruited by Team Iron Man, before a talking tree was a household name before Thor proved himself worthy of Mjolnir, and before Tony Stark even thought of building a suit of armor – there was a guy who thought a comic book movie could work. That man was/is Kevin Feige and thanks to him we have the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it. There were many who doubted he could succeed. After all, he didn’t have the movie rights to Marvel’s A-line characters in The X-Men, Fantastic Four, or Spider-Man but Feige has, according to THR, $17.5 billion that says all those people were wrong.

Twenty-two movies, twenty-two box office smashes, and $17.5 billion. I really hope that’s all his business card says, but he isn’t slowing down. Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 are being released next year and it looks like it will be another multi-billion dollar year for Marvel. But this accolade isn’t just based in merit. Anyone who stars in his films experiences an immediate career boost and fame among Hollywood. Feige is a genuine star-maker and it’s perfectly clear why he is so high on the THR list.

Based on the Marvel comic character first appearing in 1968, the story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, with Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.

Captain Marvel will be released in theaters on March 8, 2019.
