Avengers: Infinity War is the culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since 2008’s Iron Man, the MCU has been building towards Thanos and his devious plan in the third Avengers film, titled Infinity War. Thanos has appeared in limited roles in 2012’s The Avengers, 2014’s Guardians of The Galaxy and 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. The character has been portrayed by Josh Brolin and despite being cast as Cable in the Deadpool sequel, the actor will indeed return to the role in this flick. Not much is known about the new movie, but one thing’s for sure: Thanos’ plight will lead to The Avengers, Guardians of The Galaxy, Doctor Strange and Spider-Man teaming up. Other than that, we know – literally – nothing.
In a new interview with Collider, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige teased Thanos’ plan and how similar it will be to that of the Infinity Gauntlet storyline:
“[His motives] will be similar to what they were in the Infinity Gauntlet in various ways. I guess that’s all I can say about that.”
As I said, he “teased” it. So, basically, we still know next to nothing – like before. However, it is quite cool that the Avengers film is using such an iconic storyline as the basis. If the film will be anything like Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Civil War; the comic book influence will be minimal. What do you guys think? Are you excited to finally see Thanos stand up and do something? Well, you will not have to wait much longer as Infinity War is set to hit theatres everywhere on May 8, 2018.
In the meantime, you can check out Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2 in theatres next month!
