Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore revealed Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman will not be Black Knight in Eternals.
The cast of Eternals is stacked, and one of the most intriguing names on the list is Game of Thrones alum Kit Harington. In the upcoming Marvel film, Harington will be playing Dane Whitman, otherwise known as Black Knight.
Black Knight isn’t a member of the Eternals, but many fans speculated Kit Harington would still suit up as the hero in the film. However, Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore shared with Screen Rant during the film’s set visit back in 2020 that Eternals will not see Harington as Black Knight:
“We think he’s interesting and a great character and actually Kit Harington, who just wrapped yesterday, was fantastic, but we very much explore the relationship between Dane Whitman and Sersi, which is again something for comic readers … you won’t see the Ebony Blade in this movie. He’s not going to be a Black Knight necessarily, but that is something that we get to play with down the road.”
Here is the synopsis for Eternals:
“The story takes place across two time periods. One storyline is set in the past when they operated as a formidable team and a close family unit. The second storyline is in the present, when the group has fractured and split apart, content to live among humans, hiding in plain sight. The prevailing threat of the Deviants, which once again threatens the existence of mankind, means the Eternals need to put their differences aside and regroup.”
Chloe Zhao directs Eternals from a script she co-wrote with Patrick Burleigh, Kaz Firpo, and Ryan Firpo. The cast of the Marvel Studios project includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Salma Hayek as Ajak and Angelina Jolie as Thena.
Eternals will hit theaters on November 5, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Kit Harington’s future as Black Knight in the MCU and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content!
