That's a formidable villain, alright.

A concept design from Wonder Woman 1984 reveals the original monstrous look for Kristen Wiig’s villain, Cheetah.

Now that most DC fans have had the chance to see Wonder Woman 1984 in one way or another, newly revealed concept art from the sequel highlights the original design for Kristen Wiig as Cheetah. Since the sequel featured a neat reference to the first film, it’ll be interesting to see if Cheetah returns or is at least referenced in the recently green-lit Wonder Woman 3. But bringing the animalistic villain to life in a believable way was always going to be a challenge, and the new concept design reveals the initial look for Barbara Minerva’s monstrous alter-ego.

The design from artist Maciej Kuciara on Instagram shows off the athletic-looking Cheetah makes the villain truly look like a formidable threat for Diana Prince. She still retains her humanity while still paying homage to her look in the comics – but without making Kristen Wiig look too much like an extra from Cats. Take a look at the art of Wiig’s villain in Wonder Woman 1984 below.

Full details on the sequel’s plot are being kept under wraps, but the film is said to follow Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince as she comes into conflict with a formidable new adversary named Cheetah and businessman Maxwell Lord. Wonder Woman was last seen in Zack Snyder’s DC superhero team-up movie Justice League.

Directed by Patty Jenkins from a script she co-wrote with David Callaham and a treatment she developed with Geoff Johns, the film stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Natasha Rothwell, Ravi Patel, Gabriella Wilde, Connie Nielson, and Robin Wright.

Wonder Woman 1984 is scheduled to be released on December 25 in theaters and on HBO Max. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the DC Extended Universe and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more exclusive video content!
