The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Constantine alum Emmett J. Scanlan has been cast as Lobo for the second season of Syfy’s Krypton.
Krypton producers announced that Lobo would be introduced on Krypton during the show’s second season and now actor Emmett J. Scanlan joins the cast of the Syfy series in a recurring role as the DC villain. In the comics, Lobo is a ruthless Czarnian bounty hunter with a genius-level intellect and superhuman strength, making him a formidable adversary for the heroes of the DC Universe. Although the violent villain is known for murdering his entire species, his penchant for keeping his promises and holding his word scared could be his fatal flaw.
Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen in the 1980s, Lobo was initially conceived as a straight-up villain before falling out of use and being introduced as an anti-hero in the ’90s. Despite being used as a parody of the decade’s dark and gritty anti-hero’s such as Wolverine and The Punisher, Lobo became a fan-favorite character among supporters of the trend.
