SyFy’s upcoming series titled Krypton will be set decades before the birth of Superman and will chronicle the adventures of the Man of Steel’s grandfather Seg-El. While the series may take place before the current era of DC superheroes, producer Damian Kindler hinted that the show could feature it’s own superheroes during an interview with ComicBook.com.
When asked if the Kryptonian city of Kandor might be home to superheroes of its own, Kindler replied, “Um, yeah.”
While Kindler could be referring to Adam Strange or Hawkwoman, who were recently confirmed to make appearances on the series, the fact that the question directly refers to Kandor suggests that Krypton will have some heroes of its own.
Set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, KRYPTON follows Superman’s grandfather (Cameron Cuffe, “The Halcyon”) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. Based on DC characters, KRYPTON is from Warner Horizon Scripted Television and is executive produced by David S. Goyer (“Man of Steel,” “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “The Dark Knight” trilogy) through his Phantom Four banner. Damian Kindler (“Sleepy Hollow”) will serve as executive producer and showrunner.
Krypton stars Cameron Cuffe (The Halcyon) as Seg-El, Georgina Campbell (After Hours) as Lyta Zod, Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones) as Val-El, Elliot Cowan (Da Vinci’s Demons) as Daron Vex, Ann Ogbomo (Wonder Woman) as Primus Alura Zod, Rasmus Hardiker (Your Highness) as Kem, Wallis Day (The Royals) as Nyssa Vex and Aaron Pierre (Britannia) as Dev-Em.
Krypton will debut on SyFy in 2018.
