While doing press rounds for the upcoming Deep Water Horizon, Kurt Russell talked about his experience playing Ego the Living Planet in “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2.”
In an interview with ComingSoon.net, Russell gave his high regard to the cast and crew of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” sequel:
“Yeah, it’s going to be good. James Gunn is on top of it. Chris Pratt is cool. The whole cast and crew are all really nice and I was really excited when I read this character, you know the opportunity to play Ego the Living Planet, which might one of the best names of a character I’ve ever got a shot at. This Marvel and Disney bunch know what they’re doing and James Gunn leads the way so I think it’s going to be terrific. I hope it is, I’ve seen some of it at Comic-Con, it really kind of jumped off the screen and there’s some great stuff in it. I hold high hopes for it and it was fun to be a part of.”
The character, Ego the Living Planet, was created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee in 1966 and is the father of Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” is slated for a May 2017 release.
