Kurt Russell and Greg Kinnear reportedly turned down Will Patton’s role in DC Universe’s upcoming Swamp Thing series.
According to That Hashtag Show writer Charles Murphy, DC was eyeing Russell and Kinnear for the role of Avery Sunderland in the upcoming DC Universe series. Patton was ultimately cast as Sunderland, who will serve as the villain of the series. Patton most recently stared in Blumhouse’s Halloween sequel, Falling Skies, The Good Wife, and Shots Fired. Patton also appeared in 2004’s The Punisher as Quentin Glass.
DC offered the role of Avery Sunderland to Kurt Russell and Greg Kinnear before agreeing to terms with Will Patton.

DC Universe’s Swamp Thing stars Derek Mears, Andy Bean, Will Patton, Crystal Reed, Jennifer Beals, Virginia Madsen, Jeryl Prescott, and Henderson Wade.
The series is written by Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman based on characters from DC created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson. The one-hour drama has been given a script-to-series order. Wan is executive producing the series through his Atomic Monster banned in association with Warner Bros. Television. Len Wiseman, Mark Verheiden, Gary Dauberman, Michael Clear also serve as executive producers with Rob Hackett co-producing. Wiseman is directing the series pilot.
Swamp Thing will be available exclusively on DC Universe in 2019.

Avengers: Infinity War reunited audiences with Captain America after the First Avenger was forced to go on the run following the events of Civil War. While Steve Rogers donned a more disheveled version of his traditional costume in the film, new concept art reveals that the creative team behind the project initially considered alternate designs for the suit and shield, some of which pay tribute to the U.S. Agent and the Super Soldier outfits in the comics.
