Kurt Russell Wraps With ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’

Production is still well underway with the James Gunn’s upcoming sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the follow-up to the 2014 smash hit. And it looks like a cast member has finished his role with principal photography.

James Gunn posted on Twitter that Kurt Russell, who is set to play the father of Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), has finished filming for his role in the upcoming Marvel space opera.

On Facebook, Gunn continued:

It’s not often your heroes are as awesome in person as you believed they were as a kid. A wonderful guy and incredible actor in every way. And he was nice to my Mom, Dad, and dog. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

How do you guys think Kurt Russell’s role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will impact the film? What elements are you most excited to see in the upcoming sequel? Personally, I’m excited to see Pom Klementieff’s Mantis join the team as well as Russell’s interactions with the fellow Guardians – most importantly Star-Lord himself. Because let’s face it, if the film were made during the 80’s, Russell would’ve played Quill in a heartbeat.

Set to the all-new sonic backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” continues the team’s adventures as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage.

Directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan and Kurt Russell, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens into theaters May 5, 2017.
