Laura Dern recently discussed the role of Ellie Sattler, what it’s meant to her, and expressed her excitement at the idea of returning to the role for Jurassic World 3.
Laura Dern is probably best known for her role in the original Jurassic Park film. In it, she played Dr. Ellie Sattler who was instrumental in helping everyone get off the island. Last year it was announced that Laura Dern would be reprising her role as Ellie Sattler alongside Sam Neil and Jeff Goldblum for the upcoming Jurassic World sequel.
It may be hard for some to imagine, but the first Jurassic Park film came out nearly thirty years ago. Since then, the film has spawned four sequels, including the Jurassic World films, of varying quality and success with one more on the way. But surprisingly, Laura Dern only reprised the role of Ellie Sattler once for Jurassic Park III where she was notable separate from the film’s action.
During a recent interview with IMDb, Laura Dern discussed the role of Ellie Sattler, how it has affected her life, and her excitement at the idea of returning to the role for Jurassic World 3:
“I love Ellie Sattler and I have grown up with her alongside me. So many children, and particularly young women, who idolized and felt she was sort of one of their first feminist, badass action characters. I love the idea of seeing where she is now.”
