Disney Plus’ Halloween special will feature The Nevers star Laura Donnelly.
Marvel Studios’ upcoming Disney Plus Halloween special based has just gained another cast member. Deadline reports that Laura Donnelly, who stars in HBO’s The Nevers, has been tapped to play an undisclosed character. The special is set to film later this year and though details are slim on, Donnelly is expected to star as the female lead.
Laura Donnelly joins Gael Garcia Bernal, who has been rumored to star as Marvel’s terrifying antihero Werewolf by Night. Comic book guru and filmmaker Kevin Smith previously revealed that Marvel Studios had plans for the character. The outlet speculates that The Nevers star will appear as Nina Price, who is better known as Vampire by Night. In the comics, Price is a hybrid vampire/werewolf and was the first to hold the name of Werewolf by Night.
The character has since changed since Nina Price’s debut in the 70s. Modern comic book readers will recognize Werewolf by Night’s human alter-ego as Jakes Gomez. It’s unclear how influenced the Marvel Halloween special will be by the Werewolf by Night lore. It remains to be seen if other, more supernatural Marvel villains and heroes are cast for the upcoming Disney Plus special.
Marvel Studios’ upcoming slate of films includes Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Thor: Love and Thunder. In addition to the aforementioned feature films and the Halloween Special, Marvel Studios is developing several shows for Disney Plus, including Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and Moon Knight.
The upcoming Marvel Studios Halloween Special currently does not have a release date. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming Disney Plus project and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
