What If composer Laura Karpman has signed on to score the upcoming Captain Marvel sequel.
Marvel Studios is promoting from within. The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first animated offering drew from several established storylines within the franchise, expanding and detailing different hypothetical situations that our favorite characters could go through.
One of the most effective components of the show was the score, which retooled and remixed several iconic character themes to fit each episode’s narrative. Composed by Laura Karpman, the score for What If was widely praised across the board so it’s not surprising that the artist is being brought back for another Marvel project.
Variety reports that What If composer Laura Karpman will be scoring the upcoming Captain Marvel sequel The Marvels. Karpman will be working alongside director Nia DaCosta as the sequel gears up for its early 2023 release. The composer shared a brief statement about working with Marvel again.
“I am thrilled to be going on this wild adventure with Nia DaCosta and Carol Danvers and am really looking forward to the collaboration.”
Laura Karpman will be the second female composer to work for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s theatrical division. The first was Pinar Toprak, who composed the music for the first Captain Marvel, which broke box office records.
Brie Larson will return as Captain Marvel and WandaVision’s Teyonah Parris will make her big-screen debut as Monica Rambeau in The Marvels.
Brie Larson made her MCU debut in Captain Marvel. Here is the synopsis:
Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes.
