‘Legends Of Tomorrow’ Season 2: What We Know So Far

Legends of Tomorrow faced a huge amount of buzz when it was announced. Everyone was excited to see a superhero team on television, and with the shorter season allowing for more budget per episode, fans knew they were in for a spectacle. While the show's first season may not have lived up to everyone's expectations, the cliffhanger ending meant that the show once again faces a huge amount of buzzing entering its second year. With the Season 2 premiere now just one week away, we're going to be breaking down everything we know about Season 2 so far. You can also check out what we know about SupergirlArrow and The Flash. So, hit the NEXT button to find out what you can expect when our time travelling heroes return.

Legends Of Tomorrow crossover

#10 - Four-Part Crossover

Just like with our other previews, the annual Arrowverse crossover takes the number 10 spot on our list. This year, the heroes of Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow will team up to take on the Dominators. While we've seen crossovers on TV before, including plenty between the CW DC shows, this will be the biggest yet, with a 3-night event across a week of television. The event is said to be kicked off by Supergirl, but will start on The FlashArrow is currently in production on its episode of the crossover, which is coincidentally the show's 100th episode. The third part of the crossover is scheduled to be episode 7 of Legends of Tomorrow.

#9 - More Arrowverse Characters

Moving on from the main event crossover, we will see smaller crossovers between Legends of Tomorrow and the other DCTV shows. We know that Ollie is set to appear in episode 1 of Legends of Tomorrow, where he will help Nate Heywood find the Legends who have been scattered through time. Katie Cassidy is now a universe regular, meaning she has a contract signed for Legends of Tomorrow, Arrow and The Flash, so we can expect to see some version of Laurel Lance make an appearance or two as well.

Legends Of Tomorrow einstein

#8 - Historical Figures

Season 1 saw our Legends encounter the likes of Bill Gates and H.G. Wells, albeit in cameo roles. Season 2 is set to feature more historical figures, starting with Albert Einstein. However, the show's version of Einstein is what Mick Rory refers to as "a pig" and trailers have shown him being kidnapped by Martin Stein, who seems all too happy to be punching the great scientist in the face. I'm sure we'll encounter many more historical figures throughout Legends of Tomorrow's second year.

Legends Of Tomorrow jonah-hex

#7 - Jonah Hex Is Back

One of the best episodes in Season 1 was "The Magnificent Eight", which featured the Legends going back to the old west and running into DC fan favorite Jonah Hex. Hex is scheduled to return in Season 2's sixth episode, titled "Outlaw Country". Considering this version of character was loved by fans, especially when compared to the one Josh Brolin portrayed in the Jonah Hex movie, you can expect to see the scared cowboy return more than once in the show's run.

Legends Of Tomorrow savage

#6 - No More Vandal Savage

Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate Casper Crump or his character. It's just that after seeing 16 episodes of him doing the same thing, I was a bit bored. His motivations were never really clear, and whenever they were, they were dull and generic. In the end, he just didn't live up to the hype of his comic book character. Savage's death(s) means that there's more room for the writers to play around with in Season 2, with the storyline not being fixated on one goal stretched out over more episodes than it needs, and should hopefully result in some new and more interesting villains. The lack of Savage's presence in season 2 leads nicely on to...

Legends Of Tomorrow mission

#5 - The Legends Have A New Mission

Without the weekly threat of Vandal Savage, our Legends will have a new job in season 2. As teased in the season 1 finale, with the Time Masters gone someone needs to be looking after the timeline, and it's going to be the team that continently messed up the timeline last year. Our heroes will effectively be time cops, and this new role should mean the team will have even more fun than last season, with a little less pressure on them. However, something tells me that the pressure will quickly rise as the season goes on.

Legends Of Tomorrow timetravel

#4 - New Time Periods

As is usual with a time travelling show, one thing fans can expect is to see different time periods and settings at least every couple of weeks. We already know that the Legends will be travelling to the 1940s, including Nazi-occupied France. We also know that they'll be returning to the old west and visiting feudal Japan.

Legends Of Tomorrow

#3 - New Lineup

The Season 1 finale saw the Legends lose a few key members: Captain Cold, Hawkman and Hawkgirl. Season 2 is making sure that our team doesn't stay too small, introducing a new lineup, with Nate Heywood/Citizen Steel and Amaya Jibe/Vixen (the grandmother of the Mari McCabe version we've seen on Arrow) both joining the team. Other DC heroes will be joining the show as well, but more on that later.

Legends Of Tomorrow legion-of-doom

#2 - The Legion Of Doom

We've got our first TV superhero team, now it's time for our first TV super villain team. While we've seen villains team up before, such as The Rogues on The Flash and Silver Banshee/Livewire on Supergirl, this is the first time we'll see a proper super villain team in action in the ArrowverseLegends of Tomorrow's version of the Legion of Doom are made up of Malcolm Merlyn/The Dark Archer, Eobard Thawne/The Reverse-Flash, Leonard Snart/Captain Cold and Damien Darhk. We know Darhk will appear in the first episode and have a recurring role on the show, while Thawne is a main character, with Merlyn and Snart both being universe regulars. We currently don't know when we'll first see the villains team up in the second season. However, the Legion won't be the only new team joining the show this year...

Legends Of Tomorrow

#1 - The Justice Society of America

What else were you expecting? Ever since the mega tease of this iconic team from DC's history at the end of season 1, fans have been clamoring to find out what the new team will look like, how they'll interact with the Legends and vice versa. The team consists of Hourman, Dr. Mid-Nite, Obsidian, Stargirl, Commander Steel and Vixen. It remains to be seen whether we'll see the JSA in the season premiere or if we'll have to wait for episode 2 (which is named after the team).

So there you have it, everything you can look forward to in Legends of Tomorrow Season 2. Are you excited for the show's second year? Sound off in the comments below.

Legends of Tomorrow Season 2 premieres on The CW on Thursday, October 13 at 8/7c.
