‘Legends Of Tomorrow’s Matt Ryan Calls John Constantine Bi-Specieal

Legends of Tomorrow star Matt Ryan has opened up further regarding John Constantine’s sexuality and has called the character bi-specieal.

Matt Ryan, of course, portrayed John Constantine in the ill-fated NBC show, Constantine. The show was sadly canceled after its first season but Matt Ryan would go on to reprise the role in the various DC animated films like Justice League Dark and through guest appearances on the Arrowverse CW shows like Arrow before becoming a regular cast member on Legends of Tomorrow.

Most recently, Matt Ryan reprised the role for the DC animated film, Justice League Dark: Apokolips War which contained a rather interesting revelation about John Constantine. In the film, Constantine is with Raven when the two run into Harley Quinn and King Shark. Constantine panics when he realizes they are running into his ex. Raven naturally assumes the ex is Harley Quinn before Constantine corrects her by saying it’s King Shark much to Raven’s confusion and concern.

While speaking to CBR.com, Matt Ryan addressed Constantine’s unique sexuality, seemingly having a lot of fun with the decision:

“In Legends, then, he’s obviously bisexual and, with King Shark, he’s obviously ‘bi-specieal.’ So, Constantine is the most open, liberated person on the planet. I don’t know the logistics of how that works but I just guffawed when I was reading it. I was like, ‘Oh, that’s brilliant!”

What do you all make this new twist? Are you surprised that Constantine would be down to have sex with someone like King Shark? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Justice League Dark: Apokolips War is now available on digital formats and will be availed be released on 4K/Blu-ray/DVD on May 19, 2020.
