Letitia Wright recently discussed the production of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and honoring the late Chadwick Boseman.

While filming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Letitia Wright suffered an injury that led to a production hiatus. Filming eventually got back on track, with principal photography wrapping up in March.

A Long Shoot

Variety recently caught up with Letitia Wright, who talked about the problematic Wakanda Forever shoot and living up to Chadwick Boseman’s legacy:

“It is an incredible honor for Chadwick Boseman, it’s jam packed with exciting stuff We honored him by committing ourselves to the story that he started, the legacy that he started with this franchise. And we just committed every day to working hard, no matter what circumstances we faced — and we faced a lot of circumstances, a lot of difficult situations — but we came together as a team, and we poured everything into this movie, so I’m excited for you to see it.”

Letitia Wright’s vaccination status and views were a major controversy surrounding the Wakanda Forever set. Wright later addressed the claims on her social media and talked more about that post with Variety:

“I’ve learned that in life, you just have to keep going strong with what you believe in, in terms of your talent, in terms of your desire to impact the world with your art, and that’s exactly what I’m doing and I’m so proud of myself and the movie that’s coming out this year. I’m so proud of it.”

Here is the synopsis for the first Black Panther film:

After the death of his father, the king of Wakanda, young T’Challa returns home to the isolated high-tech African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king – and Black Panther – is tested when he’s drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, he must release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.

Directed by Ryan Coogler, the film stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis.
