‘Logan’ Concept Art Features Wolverine With A Dog

Some newly-released concept art from Hugh Jackman's superhero swan song Logan show that Wolverine had a canine buddy in an earlier version of the script.

Some new concept art of Logan has just been released, showing many locations present in the final film and some that were left on the cutting-room floor. It also reveals that instead of Professor X or Caliban, Wolverine had a different kind of companion before meeting with a girl named Laura.

Concept artist Shae Shatz has released a number of images that he worked on for Hugh Jackman’s final Wolverine movie, one of which shows Logan walking alongside a canine companion in front of a gas station in the middle of nowhere. Perhaps this may have been done as a kind of homage to Mad Max: The Road Warrior, a movie which had a bit of influence on the original Old Man Logan comic (which is something that the movie is partially inspired by), or perhaps this was done as a safety measure in the event that they couldn’t get Patrick Stewart to make one final appearance. Logan is in theaters now. Its cast includes Hugh Jackman as James “Logan” Howlett (Wolverine), Sir Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier (Professor X), Dafne Keen as Laura Kinney (X-23), Stephen Merchant as Caliban, Richard E. Grant as Dr. Zander Rice, and Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce. Other X-Men movies that are currently in development include Deadpool 2X-Men: The New Mutants, X-Force, and a sequel to last year’s X-Men: Apocalypse which was formerly believed to have the subtitle of Supernova.
