Logan director James Mangold has clarified his comments regarding the Justice League Zack Snyder Cut movement.
Late Friday night, Logan director James Mangold took to Twitter to share a scene from the film Norma Rae. In the tweet, the Logan director suggested that fans should “take ten minutes off from your picketing for the Snyder Cut and watch something where the wardrobe isn’t fiberglass or carbon fiber.” The tweet, which called out the well-storied Justice League Zack Snyder Cut movement, didn’t go well with DC fans at all.
Fellow cinephiles. Have you ever spent some time with the work of Martin Ritt? Um. You should. Maybe take ten minutes off from your picketing for the Snyder Cut and watch something where the wardrobe isn't fiberglass or carbon fiber. https://t.co/1sxnV605IE

In the morning, the Logan director stated that he woke up to an angry storm of tweets from Zack Snyder fans and that he would clarify his jab towards the Justice League movement. In a series of tweets, Mangold discussed how his comments on the Justice League movement were nothing more than a playful joke. The director continued by stating that he doubts Snyder wakes up everyday thinking about his original Justice League cut as some fans would have themselves believe. He ended the thread by discussing how he’s looking forward to whatever Snyder has in store in the future. You can check out James Mangold’s full thread on the Zack Snyder cut below.
2/ I doubt very much that Zack is waking everyday thinking about his original 3 hour cut of a giant corporate endeavor that was ill received. Maybe I’m wrong but, unlike some of you, who have turned your disappointment into outrage and a cause, I’d venture to say he has moved on.

So apologies for angering anyone. As some have recognized, i was just making a quip about vast areas of great cinema that are less obsessed about. Not a shot at Zack.

It’s pretty clear that James Mangold meant no ill will towards Snyder, especially considering Mangold cited Snyder’s Watchmen as an influence for Logan. While the director does think that the Justice League movement is a bit overblown, he doesn’t think that people shouldn’t be allowed to joke about it. If anything, Mangold was trying to shed more light on cinematic history that doesn’t get as much love by trying to appeal to younger fans by mentioning Justice League.
