‘Logan’ Producer Says Hugh Jackman Will Have A Say In Re-Casting Wolverine

Logan will be Hugh Jackman’s final appearance a Wolverine after nearly twenty years of playing the character. While this marks the end of an era for the X-Men film franchise, fans are already speculating on what direction the series can take without one of it’s most popular heroes. Though it may hard to imagine anyone else in the role, the possibility of re-casting Wolverine with a new actor has been proposed by fans. In an interview with CinemaBlend, Logan producer Simon Kinberg discussed the possibility of re-casting the role and if Hugh Jackman would have any input in choosing his potential successor.

Kinberg echoed previous comments on how a decision regarding the character’s future has not been made, but he also addressed whether Jackman would have a say in re-casting the character.

“We haven’t even thought of the next iteration of Wolverine. For all of us, we were keeping our fingers crossed that the audiences would respond to Logan the way they have. I can’t visualize in my head another Wolverine but if that day ever comes, we would talk to Hugh about it.”

Jackman has already stated that he would comfortable with someone else taking on the role, even suggesting a famed Bollywood star to be his successor.

In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young Mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

Directed by James Mangold, the film stars Hugh Jackman, Dafne Keen, Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Doris Morgado, Stephen Merchant, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Patrick Stewart.

Logan is now playing in theaters!
