Logan, Hugh Jackman
Logan, the final installment of the Wolverine film series, is just a few days away from hitting theaters and critics have already praised the film as a satisfying conclusion to Hugh Jackman’s run as the titular hero. Set in the near future, the film finds Logan and Professor Charles Xavier living in a world where mutants have all but vanished. Now, a new image from the highly anticipated film has been released on the wponx Instagram account, hinting at the extinction of mutant kind.

The black and white image features a discarded book bag and its spilled contents laying next to two X-Men comics. One of the comics is titled “Death of a Mutant” and features both Logan and Charles Xavier on the front cover.

In the latest trailer for Logan, the title character himself notes the inaccuracy of the in-universe comics depicting his adventures with the X-Men, meaning fans will have to wait until the film is released to discover if the ominous “Death of a Mutant” title provides legitimate information on the fate of a former X-Men member.

In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young Mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

Directed by James Mangold, the film stars Hugh Jackman, Dafne Keen, Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Doris Morgado, Stephen Merchant, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Patrick Stewart.

Logan will be released in theaters on March 3, 2017.
