Logan star Dafne Keen is joining the Star Wars universe with The Acolyte.
With production now underway, The Acolyte has added Dafne Keen, the breakout star of 2017’s Logan. Jeff Sneider and John Rocha broke the casting during the latest episode of the Hot Mic podcast, with the former revealing that Keen is “wrapping up a deal” to board the series.
Dafne Keen made her acting debut with the role of Ana “Ani” Cruz Oliver on the television series The Refugees before gaining widespread acclaim with her work as X-23 in James Mangold’s X-Men spin-off Logan. She can currently be seen as Lyra Belacqua on the BBC One and HBO series His Dark Materials, an adaptation of the trilogy of novels of the same name by Philip Pullman.
Who else is attached to The Acolyte?
Amandla Stenberg is spearheading the cast of The Acolyte, which is set to take place roughly a century before the events of 2001’s Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. Lee Jung-jae and Manny Jacinto are playing the two other lead characters of the series, with Jodie Turner-Smith on board in a supporting role.
The Acolyte is being developed by Leslye Headland, one of the creators of the hit Netflix series Russian Doll. The series does not yet have a premiere date for Disney Plus but a late 2023 or early 2024 launch is likely given that the project is already filming.
