Did The ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Directors Tease Captain America In Loki Series?

Loki The Avengers Scepter Endgame

During an interview with Business Insider, Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo may have suggested Captain America will play a role in the upcoming Disney+ Loki series.

Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame followed our heroes as they traveled back in time in hopes of collecting the Infinity Stones to undo Thanos’ decimation, but their mission resulted in unintended consequences that included the 2012 version of Loki using the Tesseract to escape custody. Following the team’s victory over Thanos, Captain America ventured back to return the stones to the point where they were taken, but the film did not offer an explanation for where 2012 Loki escaped to or how Captain America returned the Tesseract to repair the timeline. However, Avengers: Endgame director Joe Russo confirmed Captain America capturing Loki would have to be part of his mission to return the stones, suggesting the First Avenger may have to play a role on the God of Mischief’s upcoming Disney+ series:

“The intent was that he was going to correct the past timelines at the point that the stones left. Loki, when he teleports away with the Time Stone, would create his own timeline. It gets very complicated, but it would be impossible for [Cap] to rectify the timeline unless he found Loki. The minute that Loki does something as dramatic as take the Space Stone, he creates a branched reality.”

Anthony Russo also indicated the Loki series will take place in one of the branched realities created by our heroes’ interference with the timeline:

“We’re dealing with this idea of multiverses and branched realities, so there are many realities.”

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”
