Lucasfilm Previews ‘Star Wars’ D23 Plans

Star Wars logoAhead of D-23 this weekend, Lucasfilm has confirmed fans should be expecting a ton of new information about the future of the Star Wars franchise to be revealed during Disney’s biennial expo.

The Star Wars Show announced both Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will receive the Disney Legends Award for their lifetime of work on Friday. Then on Saturday, Lucasfilm will debut something interesting during the Live-Action film’s presentation which kicks off at 10 a.m. PST at the Anaheim convention center.

EA will also be offering a new look at the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront II on Saturday at 1 p.m. during the Level Up! Video Game Showcase. Battlefront II star Janina Gavankar will present a behind the scenes look at the making of the games single player campaign which follows Gavanark as Iden Versio, the commander of a group of Imperial special forces known as the Inferno Squad. The story begins with the Inferno Squad reeling in the aftermath of the Battle of Endor after Return of the Jedi and takes us all the way up to The First Order’s debut in The Force Awakens.

In addition, Gavankar will debut a new poster for the game featuring Versio’s helmet with the Inferno Squad insignia. You can get your first look at the poster in the latest episode of The Star Wars Show below.

Lucasfilm will also be revealing new information on the Star Wars Land expansion taking place at both Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida, and Disneyland in Anaheim, California. The park expansion is set to transport Star Wars fans to a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away with a 14-acre immersive environment that will introduce fans to a never before seen outpost somewhere on the outskirts of wild space, separate from the galactic history we’re familiar with.

During the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts presentation at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Disney will feature a detailed model offering a look at the expansion. Attendees will also get the chance to see starships, droids, and creatures populating the new planet.

Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the future of the Star Wars franchise and our D-23 coverage this weekend.
