A new concept design by Instagram user “HouseofMat” shows Mads Mikkelsen as the iconic villain Doctor Doom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Mikkelsen, known for his role as Kaecilius in 2016’s Doctor Strange, has been a fan-favorite to take on another character within the MCU. This artwork brings to life the popular idea that Mikkelsen could be an ideal fit for the role of Victor Von Doom, showing off what he could look like as the Fantastic Four villain.

Mikkelsen’s previous foray into comic book movies showcased his ability to deliver a compelling villain, setting the stage for his possible return to the MCU. The recent trend of Multiverse storylines creates an opportunity for actors like Mikkelsen to reappear as entirely different characters. It also makes the idea of him portraying Doctor Doom, one of Marvel’s most formidable villains, both plausible and exciting as the studio prepares to reboot the Fantastic Four. You can see Mikkelsen as Doctor Doom below.

Although rumors have suggested that Galactus and Silver Surfer might be the villains in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, there’s also talk of Doctor Doom making an appearance, potentially laying the groundwork for him to play a significant role in future MCU projects. The move could introduce Doctor Doom as a new central antagonist for the MCU, especially in the wake of Jonathan Majors’ firing as Kang the Conqueror.

What we know about the Fantastic Four movie

Marvel Studios recently announced the cast for its Fantastic Four reboot, setting the stage for a new era of MCU adventures. Stepping into the roles of the beloved superhero team are Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm.

The Fantastic Four characters were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, with the team making its first comic book appearance in 1961. The previous Fantastic Four movies, while popular, were not well-received by fans or critics, and Marvel Studios has an opportunity to right the wrongs of the past and deliver a feature that is true to the spirit of the comics.

Behind the scenes, The Fantastic Four will be brought to life under the direction of Matt Shakman, with Josh Friedman writing the screenplay. With production slated to begin in summer 2024, Marvel fans can look forward to the film’s journey to theaters in July 2025, marking a new chapter in the MCU.

Fantastic Four opens on July 25, 2025.  Stay tuned for all the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
