The first trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore finally unveils Mads Mikkelsen’s Grindelwald.

The wait for the third film in the Fantastic Beasts trilogy is almost over. After Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald put the focus on the titular villain, the upcoming Wizarding World threequel is set to dial in on everyone’s favorite wizard: Dumbledore. The trailer opens with the crew meeting Dumbledore’s brother and before we know it, Newt and co. are already on their next adventure.

As the title suggests, Dumbledore has got some secrets up his sleeve and the latest trailer for the Harry Potter spin-off keeps details close to its chest. The trailer notably features the cinematic return of Hogwarts, where Dumbledore, Newt, and the rest of the crew litter the hallways and enjoy meals in the dining hall.

The brand new trailer also fully unveils Mads Mikkelsen’s Grindelwald, who was previously played by Johnny Depp. Though the focus of the trailer is Newt Scamander and his crew, as well as Dumbledore, Mikkelsen quickly shines as the nefarious wizard in the brief screentime he has in the promo.

It’s unclear what secrets Dumbledore has and how they factor into Grindelwald’s plan to destroy muggles. But we trust that the secret is integral to the wizard’s mission to save the world.

Directed by David Yates from a screenplay written by J.K. Rowling and Steve Kloves, the film stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Callum Turner, William Nadylam, Poppy Corby-Tuech, Jessica Williams, Jude Law and Mads Mikkelsen.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is currently scheduled for an April 15, 2022 release. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the Harry Potter franchise, Mads Mikkelsen as Grindelwald, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more video content!
