Mahershala Ali Wesley Snipes Blade MCU

Mahershali Ali’s Blade movie has received a new production start date.

According to Hollywood insider Daniel Richtman, Blade is now set to begin filming on May 30, 2023. The Marvel Studios movie revolves around Mahershala Ali’s Eric Brooks, a vampire hunter whose voice was heard during the second post-credits scene of Eternals.

The talent behind the Blade movie

White Boy Rick and ’71 helmer Yann Demange is directing Blade, working from a script by Michael Starrbury, one of the writers behind Ava DuVernay’s Netflix series When They See Us. Bassam Tariq was originally supposed to direct the movie before exiting his post, citing scheduling conflicts.

Prior its creative overhaul, Blade featured a cast that also included Delroy Lindo, Aaron Pierre and Milan Ray. It’s unclear if the actors are still attached to the movie, as it was first expected to begin production back in November 2022.

Marvel Studios veterans Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito and Eric Hauserman Carroll are producing Blade. Bassam Tariq is expected to receive an executive producer credit on the movie despite his exit from its director’s chair.

Blade is currently scheduled to hit theaters on September 6, 2024. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
