The first trailer for DC’s Birds of Prey spin-off starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn is on the way.
If yesterday’s trailer for Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker film wasn’t enough, DC fans are about to get a new look at the upcoming Harley Quinn spin-off, Birds of Prey. According to Trailer Track, the first teaser for the Margot Robbie film clocks in under 40 seconds and has been rated by Germany’s FSK. The teaser could arrive in time for the release of IT: Chapter Two which hits theaters next Friday, September 6.
Fans already got a new look at Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn as she will appear in DC’s Birds of Prey earlier this week thanks to a new promotional poster and banner displayed at Expo Licensing Brasil. The new film is set to feature Margot Robbie reprising her role from 2016’s Suicide Squad. Rumors swirled earlier this summer that while early test screening reactions are positive, Warner Bros. executives may not be too happy with the early state of the project.
Cathy Yan (Dead Pigs) has directed the film from a script written by Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, who has also written the studio’s Batgirl film. Birds of Prey is produced by Sue Kroll under her Kroll & Co Entertainment banner along with Clubhouse Pictures’ Bryan Unkeless, and Margot Robbie.
Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) sees the return of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and introduces Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Jurnee Smollett-Bell to the DC Extended Universe as Huntress and Black Canary, respectively.
DC’s Birds of Prey features the female superhero team coming together with Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn and taking on Gotham crime lord Black Mask (Ewan McGregor). The girl-gang teams up to protect Cassandra Cain after she comes across a diamond which belongs to Black Mask. The film also stars Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain and Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz. Ali Wong, Steven Williams, Derek Wilson, Dana Lee, Francois Chau, Matthew Willig and Michael Masini round out the cast.
Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) starring Margot Robbie hits theaters on February 7, 2020. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on Birds of Prey, Margot Robbie, and the future of DC Films as we learn it.
