Harley Quinn comic book writer Jimmy Palmiotti defended Margot Robbie’s portrayal of the character in Birds of Prey.
When Warner Bros. and DC’s Suicide Squad debuted in theaters three years ago, Margot Robbie’s performance as Harley Quinn was one of the few elements of the film that was widely acclaimed by nearly everyone. The reverence for Margot Robbie’s take on Harley Quinn continued when she reprised the role in Birds of Prey, although not everyone has been pleased with her take on the iconic DC character.
Now, comic book writer Jimmy Palmiotti, who relaunched the relaunched the Harley Quinn series with Amanda Conner in 2013, has taken to Twitter to defend Margot Robbie’s version of the anti-heroine. In his post, Palmiotti stated that Margot Robbie’s portrayal of Harley Quinn matches what he and Conner have been doing with the character in the comics since 2013 and advised fans who disagree to follow a link to purchase their works on Amazon to see for themselves.

Margot Robbie's portrayal of HarleyQuinn is exactly as we have been writing the character since 2013. For those saying she's nothing like the character, may I suggest a 3- 800 pages collections where you can make the comparison. https://t.co/AdKQDqdfGa@birdsofpreywb

Here is the official synopsis for Margot Robbie’s Birds of Prey:
“You ever hear the one about the cop, the songbird, the psycho and the mafia princess? Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a twisted tale told by Harley herself, as only Harley can tell it. When Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cass, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya’s paths collide, and the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to take Roman down.”
Directed by Cathy Yan from a script penned by Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Ali Wong, Robert Catrini, and Michael Masini have also been cast in undisclosed roles.
Birds of Prey is now playing in theaters.
