Margot Robbie is about to bring Harley Quinn to life on the big screen in the upcoming Suicide Squad and is opening up about her character during a recent profile in Vanity Fair.
When asked about the psychotic tendencies within her character, Robbie embraces them.
“She loves causing mayhem and destruction. She’s incredibly devoted to the Joker. They have a dysfunctional relationship, but she loves him anyway. She used to be a gymnast — that’s her skill set when fighting.”
Fans have seen some of these gymnast traits within the recent trailers for Squad, especially within the original look from Comic-Con last year, in which Robbie is hanging from her cell and doing aerial acrobats.
Directed by David Ayer and starring Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoyue-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood, Cara Delevingne, Karen Fukuhara, and Adam Beach.
It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?
Suicide Squad opens in theaters on August 5, 2016. Are you excited for the movie?
