Margot Robbie has revealed the hilarious reason why she keeps returning to the role of Harley Quinn.
There are few actors out there who are practically synonymous with their comic book roles. There’s Robert Downey Jr. and Iron Man, J.K. Simmons with J. Jonah Jameson, and, to a certain degree, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Suicide Squad may not have been the critical success that the fans and Warner Bros. were hoping for, but one thing was certain: Robbie was born to play Quinn. Her performance was applauded far and wide, with a solo film focusing on her quickly commissioned. The Australian actress nailed the eccentricities and physical demeanor of the borderline psychopathic character, while also juggling the intricate emotional beats that were thrown at her.
Margot Robbie has also seen considerable – if not more – success outside of Harley Quinn through films like I, Tonya, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, and Bombshell, so why is it that the Oscar-nominated star keeps on returning to the deranged DC Comics character? In an interview with British Vogue, Robbie revealed that she’s simply too attached to the character to move on.
“I’m painted white and I’ve got a wig on, got a crazy costume on and this Brooklyn accent. Harley sticks around. Even on a weekend when I’m out with friends, sometimes she pops up and I’ll be like, ‘Right then, I’m gonna put a lid on that.’”
