Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War Crosses The $1 Billion Mark Worldwide

Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War has crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, hitting the milestone on its eleventh day in release.

Not only has Avengers: Infinity War crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, but it has also achieved the feat faster than any other film in history.

Avengers: Infinity War finished its second Friday with a global total of of $974.5 million, with $369.7 million of that coming from North America. The Marvel Studios film is flying past $1 billion today, hitting the milestone on its eleventh day in release. Star Wars: The Force Awakens was the previous record holder with twelve days.

This past weekend, Infinity War opened with $257.6 million at the North American box office, beating the previous opening weekend record of $247.9 million set by The Force Awakens in 2015. Overseas, Infinity War launched with $382.87 million for a massive global start of $640.5 million.

Infinity War is the culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe and features the fractured Avengers teaming up with the Guardians of the Galaxy to take on Thanos and his army. The Marvel film was directed by Joe and Anthony Russo from as script by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

Avengers: Infinity War is now playing in theaters, with a cast that includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautisa, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Holland, Sebastian Stan, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Rudd, Benedict Wong, Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, Tom Hiddleston, Benicio Del Toro, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor and Josh Brolin. The currently-untitled Avengers 4 features a cast made up of many of the key players in Infinity War — alongside newcomers like Brie Larson and Evangeline Lilly — and is scheduled to hit theaters on May 3, 2019.
