Marvel Comics #1000 featured an unexpected cameo by DC Comics’ hero Batman.
Today, Marvel Comics celebrated its 80th anniversary with issue #1000, in which a major event from Marvel’s history is represented through a single-page story. To commemorate 1997’s debut of Deadpool’s first ongoing series, writer Gail Simone and artist David Baldeón collaborated on a story titled “Turkey Soup for the Deadpool Soul” that features a brief appearance by DC’s Batman.
In the Marvel Comics story, Deadpool creates “cheer-up” stories that include pretending to be Galactus or a “peaceful boat ride.” During the boat ride panel, Deadpool can be seen driving away in the Batboat from Batman Forever as the Caped Crusader can be seen shouting at the Merc with a Mouth. Of course, Deadpool does not seem concerned by the call of DC’s Batman, as he is seen telling readers, “uplift accomplished!”
