In a move that probably won’t surprise anyone, a petition has been launched to bring back Luke Cage for a third season.
The campaign appeared earlier today on Change.org from one known as Luke Hunter. In it, Hunter explained his position on the cancellation and why he the show must be saved:
Luke Cage is the finest Marvel show in existence. It exemplifies heroics, sassy banter, great music, and family fun. The cancellation of this beloved show is utterly flabbergasting. We must fight to save our hero of Harlem as he fights for us.
From the sound of things, Hunter is not going to let Luke Cage go down without a fight. As of the writing of this article, the page has only received 606 signatures.
The show’s sudden axing came as something of a surprise to fans around the world. Despite two otherwise solid seasons, Marvel and Netflix officially canceled the show yesterday evening. The official reason behind the cancellation was cited as creative differences between the writers and producers on the show, although the actual reasoning behind this has been vague. In addition, this explanation has not stopped many from speculating that the actual cancellation has something to do with Disney’s upcoming streaming service and its dedication to non-R-Rated content. It is especially troublesome due to the cancellation of Iron Fist which also only just occurred a short time ago, leading many to speculate that Jessica Jones and perhaps even Daredevil may be next on the chopping block.
What do you all make of this sudden cancellation? Do you believe the official reasoning behind it or is Disney playing some kind of longer game with the its own streaming service? Will you be singing this petition to bring the show back? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
Here is the synopsis for Luke Cage season 2:

The series stars Mike Colter as the titular hero, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Theo Rossi as Shades Alvarez, Mustafa Shakir as John McIver, and Annabella Sciorra as Rosalie Carbone.
