The first set photos from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has arrived online, teasing some of the action in the Marvel Studios film.

As filming continues on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the first photos from the set reveal an action scene in the Marvel Studios film. Although the storyline for one of the next Marvel Cinematic Universe adventures is under wraps for the moment, it’s likely that it’ll follow the character’s origin as he’s kept away from the world in his father’s Chinese compound. But with Tony Leung joining the cast as the Mandarin, it’s likely Marvel Studios will use the villain as Shang-Chi’s father rather than Fu Manchu to avoid the obvious cultural stereotypes.

The new photos show a scene involving a helicopter, given the huge blue screen backdrop it makes sense that this will likely be some kind of action scene. It’s not quite clear who the figure is hanging off the side of the helicopter, but they’ve got their face covered while wearing a set of robes. Some fans noted that the character looks like a ninja, so it’s possible that they could be a part of the Ten Rings terrorist organization that first emerged in the MCU back in Iron Man. Take a look at the set photos from Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi below.

Introduced in Special Marvel Edition #15 in December 1973, Shang-Chi is a skilled martial artist who was raised in an isolated compound located in China and trained by his father Fu Manchu, a Chinese crimelord and immortal sorcerer who repeatedly attempted to conquer the world. When Shang-Chi was finally allowed to venture into the outside world to do his father’s bidding, he learned about his father’s evil ways and faked his own death before embarking on a mission to take down Fu Manchu’s criminal empire.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a script written by David Callaham, Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings stars Simu Liu, Awkwafina and Tony Leung.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be released in theaters on February 12, 2021.
