Marvel Studios and Sony have officially worked out a deal for Tom Holland to return as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Today, Sony and Marvel Studios announced that they have officially come to an agreement to renew their contract to keep Tom Holland in the MCU as Spider-Man. Along with the renewal came the announcement that a third Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland would hit theaters July 16th, 2021. The new deal will also have Tom Holland appear in an upcoming Marvel Studios film as Spider-Man.

In a statement released to Heroic Hollywood, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige had this to say:

“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it, Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”

Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal also expressed her excitement for Tom Holland to remain in the MCU as Spider-Man:

This is terrific.  Peter Parker’s story took a dramatic turn in Far From Home and I could not be happier we will all be working together as we see where his journey goes,” said Pascal.  “This has been a winning partnership for the studios, the franchise and the fans and I’m overjoyed it will continue.
